Spring Newsletter 2006
Dear Members,
March is already with us and
the news from the patch is that most are
suffering from SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder)
great weather for the ducks but not so pleasant
for us model flying enthusiasts. Having said
that the hard-core flyers have been making the
most of what conditions we have had and quite a
lot of flying has been done over the winter
months.
The committee have had a
couple of meetings since the AGM and have been
busy with some outstanding jobs around the club.
You may have noticed another sign that has been
displayed on the patch. “ Winter Rules Apply”
This helps keep the patch traffic down to a
minimum over the winter months and will
hopefully ensure an excellent surface for the
summer. We have also managed to fill in some
holes at the site entrance and track leading to
the pits. This is a great improvement and helps
keep some of the mud of your feet. Please
respect the speed limit and those repairs should
last until next winter.
In the next few months the
committee should be rolling out a new club
folder. This is a very attractive white A5
folder with club badge on the front and will
contain lots of useful information. Every new
member will be issued with one. It will contain
the rules, training cards, contact numbers for
instructors and model shops. This will also be
available to existing members once we have
enough to go round.
The forth-coming events are
the first fly for fun day in May. This went down
very well last year and hopefully should attract
some new pilots. Please come along and watch the
fun, as normal club flying will be going on too.
The club BBQ is the next event to look out for.
This is to be held in June and we have made
arrangements for individual flushing toilet
units with sinks to be on site. So bring the
family and have a relaxing afternoon without
worrying about how much to eat and drink. We
will also have a very large selection of salads,
cakes and lots of other mouth-watering food for
members who dislike barbecued food.
Towards the end of the year
we have another fun day planned and I have also
been in contact with the White Horse Hotel to
reserve a date for our Christmas function. Last
year was my first Christmas dinner with the club
and I thought it was a great evening. The food
was good and waiter service was on hand for
those less able. So if you are undecided about a
night out at the White Horse give it a go you
will not be disappointed.
That brings me to the end of
your spring news and it's still snowing outside.
If you would like to keep up to date with what's
going on at the patch. Just send an e-mail to
dixie.neildixon@btopenworld.com with keep me up
to date in the subject box and I will forward
all the latest news. The clubs at Catterick and
Teesside always have a guest speaker and other
evenings of interest that are open to all.
Finally you may have noticed farm for sale
boards along the main road to the site. Our
landlord has decided to sell some land and
Cockleberry house. He is not to sell Cowton Moor
and will continue to be our landlord.
Congratulations to Robert
Morton on achieving his 'A' Licence.
