Winter Newsletter 2006
Dear Members,
I sit here wondering what happened to
the summer. It only seems like yesterday that we were
moaning about the rain and cold weather. It’s all gone
too fast but what a summer we did have.
Looking back we have had a very
successful year with plenty of flying and a lot of fun
at the flying field. All the loose ends have been tied
up with reference to the constitution, club rules and
flying rules. Everything you need to know about the
club has been displayed in the clubhouse since
September. Many thanks for all the comments and
questions about some of the updated changes, we
appreciate your feedback and it also proves that the
documentation has been read by some if not all the
membership.
The new club folder will also be
available at the AGM. All new members in 2007 will
receive this folder along with all the information on
the club. Members will also receive their DDMFC 2007
membership sticker. This will also double as your
frequency peg and your frequency number will need to be
displayed on your transmitter as per BMFA and club
flying rules. This will save committee members asking
for proof of membership as it will be displayed on the
pegboard. The reason we have had to adopt this system is
to prevent non-members flying at the site (which has
been reported). The membership is in the eighty’s now
and it has been hard to keep track of all the new faces
and paid up members. So no peg with a 2007 sticker no
flying. Lost or damaged stickers will have to be
re-ordered via the membership secretary, so please look
after your peg.
September brought us another fly for
fun day. This time we invited the Whitby Club to take
part in the challenge. This turned out to be the best
fly for fun day we have had and as the events progressed
it was clear that it was turning into an inter-club
competition. By the end of the day the wreckage was
piling up but it was the Whitby lads who came out on top
taking the top two places and our own Geoff Nicholls
placing 3rd. Well done to Geoff and to all the eleven
pilots who took part it was a great day for all the
helpers and spectators. The Whitby lads then went on to
take A’s and B’s late in the afternoon and made a kind
donation of £50. Thanks lads and see you next year with
our A team of fun flyers.

The club also took part in the Castle
Howard fly-in. This was a new venue that had been
organised by the local branch of the BMFA. It was aimed
at the average club flyer who holds an A licence. This
was the most relaxed and friendly event that I have been
to this year. Dates have already been posted for the
weekend 8th September 2007, a weekend not to
be missed.
The Club’s Christmas dinner has been
booked for the 9th December at the Blackwell
Golf Club. I know that it is a Saturday and may not be
convenient to some members but it was all we could get
at short notice and the right price @ £15 per head.
Sadly the White Horse Hotel is to be pulled down for a
new development. A menu and list of those wishing to
attend is displayed in the clubhouse.
The AGM and subs night has also been
booked for Monday 18th December at Hurworth
Grange. The meeting will start at 8pm in the Hadwyn
Lounge. Members should arrive between 7 and 8 to pay
subs or maybe a chat in the bar. Tea and coffee will
also be available. Remember all proposals in writing
need to be with the committee by the end of November.
This will also be the last posted
copy of the newsletter. Future news will only be
displayed in the clubhouse and sent via e-mail to the
membership. Sadly printing and postage costs have forced
the committee to make this decision. Bcc will be used
for e-mail and those members who wish to add their
e-mail address to the club list, just send it to the
chairman via the DDMFC website link.
That’s it for 2006 hope to see you
all at the AGM.
Certificate of achievement.
Mark Parsonage B Licence. Doug Gordon
A Licence. Well-done guys.

Neil Dixon. Chairman 2006. |
